Mindfulness is a state of being in the moment, paying attention to the present. This state encompasses observing one’s thoughts and feelings without judging them as good or bad. Mindfulness refers to a specific state of awareness in which the attention is focused on observing thoughts, emotions and sensations occurring in the mind. This state can be trained through mindfulness meditation techniques. The origins of mindfulness come from Buddhist tradition, but its practices became widely adopted by modern cognitive-behavioral psychology as a valuable therapeutic tool.
